Lee and Harnett County, North Carolina Section 8 Voucher Waiting List

The Sanford Housing Authority (SHA) last accepted Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from May 17, 2024, until 1,500 applications were received. There is no notice when this waiting list will reopen.

This waiting list had the following preferences:

• Involuntary Displacement
• Homeless Veterans
• Chronically Homeless
• Single Elderly/ Disabled
• Elderly or Disabled with Minor Children
• Homeless Families that include minor children who are identified by a social service agency providing shelter or law enforcement
• In Place – eligible applicants who reside in units at the time of the PBV property owner’s proposal selection date for Project-based assistance

1,500 selected applicants were placed on the waiting list by date and time the application was received, weighed by order of preferences.

To apply while the waitlist was open, applicants were required to complete the online application.
