Alexander, Burke, Caldwell and Catawba County, North Carolina Section 8 Voucher Waiting List

The Western Piedmont Council of Governments Regional Housing Authority (RHA) last accepted Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from July 1, 2024, until July 26, 2024. There is no notice when this waiting list will reopen.

Preferences

This waiting list had the following preferences:

• Family that has been terminated from its HCV program due to insufficient program funding.
• Live, work, or who have been hired to work within Alexander, Burke, Caldwell and Catawba County.
• Family that includes a family member who is a person with disabilities.
• Active members of the United States Armed Forces, Veterans of the United States Armed Forces, or spouses and surviving spouses of U.S. Veterans where the veteran was discharged other than dishonorably.
• Families or individuals who are literally homeless and non-elderly persons with disabilities transitioning out of institutional and other segregated settings, at serious risk of institutionalization, homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless as defined by HUD, consistent with the North Carolina Coalition to End Homelessness and on consultation with local partner agencies.

Selection Process

2,500 applicants were placed on the waiting list by date and time the application was received, weighed by order of preferences. 

Application Method

To apply while the waitlist was open, applicants were required to complete the online application.
