My main focus is on tax preparation. I do taxes for individuals, small businesses (self-employed customers) and corporations, in my office and remotely. When I do tax preparation I charge per form. When I do bookkeeping / accounting I charge per hour. Sometimes the bookkeeping is needed prior to the tax preparation and when it’s not extensive it makes sense for these services to be bundled together for better pricing.
As an Enrolled Agent and Licensed Tax Consultant (with OR Board of Tax Consultants) I can represent clients in the audits either with the IRS or Oregon Dept of Revenue. I can address the IRS and OR Department of Revenue Notices received by clients and solve the tax issues they are referring to.
For the Bookkeeping and Accounting services I charge between $75 and $100/h - depending on the complexity of the work. I can travel to Client’s business place or work remotely from my office. I use QuickBooks desktop and Online – mine or Client’s.
For tax preparation I also use Intuit software products and charge per form; it depends on how many forms individuals or businesses need for filing but also on how complex the returns are and if an extended preparation time is necessary. The fee for a basic individual tax return with just one item of income (like 1 W2 form) and standard deduction is $175.
I also do basic tax planning and annual or semi-annual projections for individuals and businesses in order to find ways for my clients to stay ahead of the game, save on taxes and to help them be compliant with the financial/tax requirements for their particular situation.
My work happens mainly in a paperless environment, so, connecting and exchanging information via internet is very efficient and important, although is not compulsory. I use several strong safeguards to protect my Client’s information at any time.
I like doing Accounting and Tax Preparation because of the multitude of aspects and cases they involve. There are many factors to consider, different frames to try, both synthetic and analytic views need to blend together and complement each other for the job to be successfully done. Accountants and Tax Preparers are those able to break things down and reconstruct the whole - not only to measure the financial efforts and returns, but to present reliable and comprehensive descriptions of the trends and projection analysis, raising budget awareness, educate clients and ultimately saving Clients’ money through applying the right knowledge to the right situation.
