I love to perform music and I experience all the time that my audience enjoys me playing. I try to spread this joy on my students.
I'm educated in Poland with strict respect to classical music but I've studied Suzuki Method in US and this changed my perspective on teaching at all. But I don't use strict Suzuki Method because I believe in need of music reading to rise independent musician.
I understand the different goals people have with music so I adjust my method to the goals of my students.
With youngsters I focus the most on teaching by playing with fun.
With adults I incorporate some stretching exercises to improve muscle ability to perform well.
I teach partially like a coach with great focus on practical use of the technique.
Anyway even my very beginners are actually playing short songs at their first lesson because melody in music is what works the best!
I'm pretty successful with improving my students (and new students with technique shortage) technique as well as notes reading and theory understanding.
Over all I'm sure the talent of playing music is to be shared so I encourage my students to take every oportunity to perform or compete.
I like the most the time right before my students recital twice a year, when everyone works the hardest and I can enjoy to see their progress. At that time students can experience the most extraordinary fun of performing music and sharing their talent.
