About

I am a degreed industrial designer with over 35 years of experience as a product design consultant. Throughout my career, I have worked exclusively for award-winning industrial design firms, preferring the collaborative work environment and wide variety of challenges found in consulting. Since 2002, I have worked as an independent design consultant working primarily for other design firms on a wide range of projects.

In the past, I have designed medical equipment such as the biopsy mammotome for BiopSys/Ethicon, technology products such as the Palm PDA Thumbpad for Datadesk, consumer products such as the best-selling Workhorse flashlights for Rav-O-Vac, several toys for Mattel and Playmates Toys, a patented twist-up eraser mechanism for Pentel, numerous graphics and illustration projects for The Walt Disney Company, and a wide variety of medical, industrial, in-flight entertainment and avionics, fitness, consumer, attended and unattended POS, and commercial projects.

I have accumulated numerous utility and design patents throughout my career and I am usually drawn to the more mechanical problem-solving aspects of my projects, although I have won several aesthetic design awards as well. My background in Human Factors and Ergonomics, my extensive knowledge of a wide range of both high and low volume processes and materials, and my expertise and efficiency with 3D design and documentation tools make me an experienced and well-rounded industrial design professional.

I graduated from Arizona State University in 1983 with a bachelor of science degree in design sciences with a focus in product design. In addition to my aesthetic and ergonomic skills, I have over 30 years of CAD experience including the last 22 years using SolidWorks, and various other digital design tools including Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
