We dance and teach partnered social dancing. . . . Perfect for your wedding and just for the fun of it! This is the kind of dancing you see at weddings, celebrations and festivals, in pubs, clubs and bars, in dance halls, community centers, in parks and on boardwalks, winter and summer, for any reason or no reason. Styles include waltz, foxtrot, swing, blues, two step, salsa, cha-cha, and more.
We teach the language, the *feel,* (and the secrets) of dancing with a partner -- giving you vocabulary and moves to play with each other, play with the music, play with the dance, make it your own -- a glorious conversation between two kindred spirits that is unique in the moment and will never happen in exactly the same way again.
Any dancer can find this kind of feeling on the dance floor -- from absolute beginners to the most experienced. It's all in how you approach it.
Teaching people to dance is inherently happy work -- (if you can even call it work). This kind of partnered social dancing is play, and just plain fun. And people come to learn because they *want* to, for whatever reason.
My favorite classes to teach are beginning classes and private lessons for non-dancers and beginning dancers, especially the very first lesson for longtime dancer wanna-be's or dance skeptics. They come into the class or lesson nervous, sometimes scared, often believing they won't be able to do it, harboring some secret belief or past trauma around dancing.
Then, at some point during that first hour the light goes on, the "aha" hits them, and they realize they *are* dancing! And they're having *fun* doing it!
That's the moment that makes it for me -- every time.
COVID safety protocol
Dancing with a partner is, of necessity a close contact activity which continues to make it risky in this COVID world. We follow strict safety protocol in an effort to keep our students, ourselves and everyone's loved ones as safe as possible. We abide by and require proof of full vaccination including a recent booster, high quality, well-fitting masks worn in the studio at all times, and as much social distancing between teacher and students as possible in a close contact art form.
