I have been practicing law for over 35 years. My practice at this time is primarily concentrated on heavily contested divorce, paternity, order of protection, and probate cases. My hourly rate is $250/hour for non-court time and $275/hour court time. Most attorneys with my years of experience charge over $300/hour.
If you have an uncontested divorce case as I define it, that is, ALL ISSUES IN THE CASE THAT NEED TO BE DEALT WITH ARE ALREADY AGREED TO BY THE PARTIES, then I have a flat fee for preparing the necessary paperwork and asking the judge to enter the divorce by agreement.
Legal services are not cheap. The more complicated and difficult it is, the more expensive it is. I tell you upfront as much as I can foresee as to what steps at least initially need to be done in your case. I work closely with you and communicate with you to develop a strategy in your case that, in my legal opinion and experience, will lead to the best possible resolution of your case. But it is ultimately up to the judge to decide what is a fair resolution of your case if the parties cannot ultimately agree by themselves. Trials are very expensive, so most divorce cases are settled in some manner and fashion.
