West Coast Canine Connections specializes in psychology-based training and behavior modification, from leash reactivity, to fearful behaviors. Positive reinforcement and rewards-based training is used, rather than corrections and punishments. Puppy training, basic obedience, and many other types of training are taught.
I prefer to use methods backed by science and studies, rather than getting quicker results but at the expense of the dog’s emotional state. Stress can cause a multitude of health issues, and chronic stress can lead to life threatening illnesses, much like in us humans. My methods are humane, kind, but also the most effective in the long run. I am extremely confident and proud in my ability to change dogs lives.
I am also a certified dog trainer and certified behavior consultant through the IAABC. Unfortunately the dog training industry is unregulated and so anybody can call themselves a trainer/consultant/behaviorist. I have my CPDT-KA, which is the Certified Professional Dog Trainer, Knowledge Assessed certification. CCPDT is one of the most reputable certification councils in the country. Note, this certification is not required to call yourself a trainer, but I have taken the time (and lots of money) to get there because I care about the quality and education needed to properly improve the lives of pets. Same for my CDBC (Certified Dog Behavior Consultant) certification, which has taken be over 4 years to obtain. I am very proud of my education and ability to apply what I know to each individual pet and family.
