About

My name is Zach Rescignano. I'm a local drummer with over 10 years experience playing, touring, and recording. My background is in punk/rock, but recently I've been digging into more groove, electronic, and hardcore music.

One of the things that got me into teaching was the excitement I get when sharing the craft of drumming with others. Helping students achieve their drumming goals and supporting their journeys, the way I would have liked when I was starting, is what drives me.

I approach lessons from the student's perspective. Drums are supposed to be fun, so my strategy is to follow the excitement. Rather than spend all of our time playing pre-arranged rudiments and exercises (because "that's how it always goes"), I like to give my students the reigns to steer the lesson a bit more (I've got plenty of pre-written exercises for those who enjoy that type of approach) . I enjoy collaboration and discovery in the moment. I'm there more as a guide than anything else. I want to help you develop your own voice behind the kit. I will help steer you in the direction you want to go and keep you on track.

I embrace mistakes. I view them as insights into our own musical voice.

Areas we can cover include basic technique (holding the sticks, rebound, rudiments, ergonomics around the kit), developing a mindset for performance, learning songs quickly, reading/writing drum notation, ear training (listening!), breaking old patterns of playing the same grooves/fills, and more...

Other areas we can cover that aren't strictly drums include recording beat programming/sampling (with Logic or other DAWs), studio etiquette, live show tips and tricks, touring sustainability, etc.

If you're interested in working with me, send me a message and we can get started!
