Most SO CALLED electricians on Thumbtack are NOT LEGAL. The Wa. State Dept. of Labor & Industries website states that "You must have a valid Electrical Certificate or license from us to do electrical work in Washington." All Legal Tradesmen w/ a License can be found on the L & I website. (under "Licensing & Permits" then "look up Contractor or Business" then "Verify Tool." No Trainee, Handyman or General Contractor is legally allowed to do electrical work on your home or business. Never!! You don't always need a permit for the work, but you always need to hire a licensed Electrician in Washington. If you don't and, God forbid, your home burns down your insurance will not cover illegal electrical work. It just takes once! If the work in your home requires any work with wires in any manner it requires a Licensed Electrician by State Law. I am a Master Electrician in this state and a life long resident of Puget Sound.
