Hello, I am going to be a sophomore at East Carolina University in the fall! My mom has been running an in-home daycare since I was 3 years old. Because of that, I have been babysitting/ nannying to make money since I was 11. My mom has always stressed the importance of leaving another persons home better than when you stepped into it. When I was younger I would just tidy up the toys and throw trash away, but now that I’m older it has changed. This summer I have nannied for multiple different families, and none of them have required cleaning while babysitting. The kids that I nanny for are all still young and take naps. I had decided that instead of sitting watching tv while they nap, I was going to clean up the house. I found that I REALLY enjoy cleaning (probably part of my ADHD/OCD?.) Now while the children are sleeping, I will mop, vacuum, hand wash/ load and unload dishwasher, put clothes in washer/dryer, fold and put away laundry, reorganize cabinets/refrigerator/rooms/etc, deep clean fridge/microwave/oven/countertops/etc, and literally anything else I can think of/ squeeze in while the babies nap! I have enjoyed this so much that I actually have forced the thought of “Scrub Sunday” onto my college roommates. This means that Sunday will be our day of deep cleaning our apartment (Personally that might be my favorite day of the week now?.) Although I haven’t been booked for a cleaning job yet, I have experience in cleaning other peoples houses. I am new into this, so I do really appreciate some feedback as to how/ what I can do to better my cleaning abilities. I also will make sure that everything is up to standards/pay and if it is not, I will come back and fix my mistakes free of charge, or give all the money back. I’m really excited to be getting into this because this is something I really enjoy doing (just like babysitting) and it won’t feel like a “chore”. Cleaning has also become my therapy and helps me relax and take my mind off of things. I hope that y’all will give me a chance, I promise you won’t regret it!
