Cat Willett is an accomplished illustrator and arts educator based in Brooklyn, NY. She has many years of experience teaching children ages 3+ up in many artistic mediums, always striving to uplift and empower students to find their unique voices through their creations. Cat believes that the greatest artistic tool a kid has is their own imagination, which her classes help them to tap into while exploring traditional and digital art forms.
Cat is the author and illustrator of the graphic biography Queen of Wands: The Story of Pamela Colman Smith, the Artist Behind the Rider-Waite Tarot Deck, published by Running Press Books and in stores around the world. Her second book Women of Tarot will hit shelves June 2024.
Cat holds her MFA from the Fashion Institute of Technology in Illustration. She received her BFA from the University at Buffalo with a minor in Art History and also studied at the Scuola Lorenzo de’Medici in Florence, Italy.
She primarily works digitally, creating books, comics, and editorial illustrations, and her drawings depict plant life and strong female figures, deeply rooted in history with a bit of whimsy.
She is a regular contributor of comics to The Washington Post, and her illustration work has been featured by The New York Times, Apple, Madison Square Garden, Doc Martens, the Museum of Arts and Design, and more.
In addition to art classes, Cat offers illustration services including drawings, custom illustrations, logos, poster design, and home decor.
