I really do take the time to communicate with my students and observe how they work in their own math environment. I prefer to talk with each student and find our what their perceptions are about their coursework, the class instructor, assignments and exams, and what the they perceive as weaknesses and strengths.
Over several sessions I observe problem solving patterns, study behaviors, and overall comprehension of each student. Through communication and observation I'm able to make suggestions for the the best approach to take to improve grades and to help my students improve their study habits.
