About

I help students develop their numeracy skills. Current research suggests that students who lack number sense will struggle with higher level math like algebra and beyond. Building number sense along with students mental math skills takes math beyond memorization of math facts to make connections and "see" the intuitive connections that exist within math.

When I was a kid I struggled with math, so I know first hand exactly what that feels like. In my day, math was about memorization of math facts along with a bunch of disconnected processes and rules. Yet in spite of my difficulties, I learned to persist and persevere. Today, I LOVE math and I love helping kids discover their potential for success! I encourage students to make mistakes, not on purpose, but to learn. Mistakes are our friends because that is how you grow your brain and learn. Each time you make a mistake a synapse fires in your brain to grow new connections as you see what doesn't work. If I could learn math, then I can help you learn math too!
