Hi, I'm Andrew!
I grew up in Cupertino so I know how ridiculously competitive it is here to get high GPA's and test scores. Although I had excellent grades in high school, my parents would still push me to go above and beyond; over the summers, my parents often locked me in the house with nothing but a math or SAT/ACT book to do practice problems until they came back from work. I wasn't the only one.
It eventually paid off as I was accepted to many top-rated universities (including all the UC's) and had an amazing time during my attendance at UCSD. However, my parents' methods left a lot to be desired and was horrible for my motivation to study in the coming years. As such, I firmly believe that this brute-force studying method that many are subjected to is ultimately detrimental to students, although it may be effective in the short term.
Throughout university, I found myself helping out my friends a lot with their math and computer science courses (often for food). Apart from lesson material, I learned the importance of teaching at a comfortable pace and finding the idiosyncrasies of how each student learns new things/retains knowledge.
While it may sound cheesy, watching my friends succeed was extremely fulfilling and I hope to extend that success to others!
Thanks for reading through my introduction!
