I graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology with a BS in Biomedical Engineering with a minor in Psychology. During college, I began tutoring my peers to help pay my college tuition. I enjoyed it so much that I never stopped! I have been tutoring for over fifteen years, focusing on test prep, biology, chemistry, physics, and math. I have worked with over 1,000 students and many have gone on to attend top-fifty ranked colleges. I am also a registered nurse.
As a goal-oriented educator focused on producing results, I am consistently finding ways to efficiently achieve and exceed my goals and want to encourages my students to do the same. My experience in education has taught me that students often just need more confidence and extra time. I like to encourage students to ask questions and really understand subjects using several teaching strategies that have proven effective in the past.I have found both hands-on learning and repetition to be particularly effective. The more students practice, the more likely they are to retain the concept. Repetition is a key to transforming a skill from the conscious to the subconscious. Through repetition, a skill is practiced and rehearsed over time and gradually becomes easier. As students improve, the concept will transition into the subconscious freeing the brain to learn new concepts. After all practice alone doesn't make perfect, but perfect practice makes perfect.
These sessions can help students think critically, understand course materials, and improve test performance/anxiety. Every session is unique and customized to each student’s personality and needs. We can work on homework, test preparations, or just review the fundamentals.
I also have received tutoring as a child and have been on the student’s side of it. This allowed me to find numerous ways to explain a concept to a student with patience and certainty.
In High School, I was on the swim team and debate team. Now I puts my love for problem solving and adventure in to rock climbing and running.
