I have been serving pet parents in the San Diego area for over 20 years. However I have only recently started promoting myself on Thumbtack. Most of my business has been built on referrals. I started 1999 only doing pet care in my client's homes. However, I was able to expand to dog boarding in my home after my beloved cat of 18 years passed in 2014.
All the photos included here are past & current pet clients. Many of them are no longer alive after all these years, but happily, many of the clients who lost their pets over the years now have new pet companions that I care for. So I have long time refrences if needed.
I love all animals, and they all have unique personalities. I get satisfaction in knowing that they are given loving care while their owners are away. It's not just the neighbor kid who fills the food and water bowl, then leaves. Animals need more than sustenance. It is very stressful for animals when you leave for a trip and they find their owners don't return when expected in the evening after work like they normally do. So when I see how calm the pet becomes when I arrive on a regular schedule, and how they interact with me, or how much fun they have when being boarded at my home, then I know I have become the saving angle in their eyes. That gives me great satisfaction. And of course with boarding dogs at my home they are treated like part of the family. So it's like a doggie staycation for them when you are away. Don't blame me if they want to stay and play with their new friends when you return.
I have a fully fenced front lawn where pups can play ball and play with each other -always supervised. They are free roam in my home otherwise. I never use kennels unless your pet is used to sleeping in a crate at your home, then we can do the same here if they feel more comfortable in a crate at night, or if it is a puppy learning crate training.
I have been trained in Pet First Aid and CPR, also trained in sub-q fluids & needle injections. I have both taken and hosted dog behavior training, and have been a member of two national Pet Sitter Associations attending conferences with continued ed. If you are unable to drop your pup off for dog boarding, I can do a pick up and drop off for an additional fee if in the local area. However, I am conveniently right off the 8 freeway on Grossmont Blvd. in La Mesa.
I provide discounts for the second and third dogs from the same owner because I know how expensive it can get for boarding at most kennels when you have to pay the same rate for every dog. This discount allows those of you who rescues dogs the chance to get a vacation in too. That is my way of helping because I appreciate that you rescue dogs.
