I have full bonding/insurance and I also offer cat massage--not just petting, and the dogs in my charge seem to like the attention and strokes as well. Cat behavior modification is an interest of mine also. With two Veterinary Assistant certificates, I am also able to give medication, if necessary.
Also I think enough of my profession and my charges to have passed a 387-question exam from PSI as a Certified Professional Pet Sitter. This credential allows me to competently pet sit any companion animal with fins, fur, feathers, or scales. Besides the garden-variety cats and dogs, I have done chickens, a chinchilla, a cockatiel, a conure, two Bearded Dragons, a Leopard Gecko, a turtle, a Dwarf Hamster, three Guinea Pigs, a rabbit, fish, and a tarantula. Recertification for three-year blocks completed: September 2014 and April 2018. Am currently taking online courses for the coming April 2021 renewal.
I include vacation services, such as light/curtain rotation, plant watering, and mail pickup to give the clients' homes that "lived-in look."
And most other pet care services will not provide a card from PSI good for any animal/human medication the client can pick up at a pharmacy. The discount is up to 75%. off. This includes insulin.
All the clients are different, as well as the pet personalities, and each job has a different routine.
I've also greatly expanded my driving internal "maps" of the areas I service, and enjoy visiting new neighborhoods with out-of-the way scenic views.
The homes I've visited range from three-floor mansions, to apartments so tiny there was barely room to swing a cat.
