I have been a pet lover all my life. My first 2 pets were a cat and a dog, and I have adored them ever since. I love all animals, and have had many different kinds of pets, including dogs, cats, birds, hamsters, turtles, and a gerbil. I have done pet sitting of cats and dogs for some of my friends and neighbors as well as house and pet sitting for 2 different companies and for others people whom I have met and taken care of their pets on my own.
For cats, I feed them wet and/or dry food, give them fresh water and treats (if they are allowed), play with them, clean their litter boxes,administer medications (including oral medicines and insulin pens), and give them plenty of love and companionship if they want it. I also leave them alone when they want to be left alone. I know some cats are "scaredy" cats, shy, or just want to be left alone, especially if they are feral, but most of them usually warm up to me. I also have experience with automatic feeders, automatic water dispensers, regular litter boxes, litter genies, and litter robots.
As far as dogs, I am experienced at feeding them (measured or free feeding, or special food with medications hidden inside), giving them fresh water and treats (if they are allowed), administering medications other ways (inside peanut butter or
Cheese, and applying eye drops), letting them outside for play, exercise, and to go to the bathroom, taking them for walks, and cleaning up waste. Very importantly, I give them a lot of love and companionship, which includes letting them sleep with me if they are allowed.
I have done my share of overnight care, which includes mail retrieval, plant watering, taking garbage, and especially cleaning up after myself.
I have also taken care of fish, a frog, and chickens. The fish and frog, I just fed. The chickens, I fed, changed their water, washed out their wading pool, and gathered their eggs in the evening.
I love getting to know cats; each one has a unique personality, and all of them are lovable, including the independent ones who don't want to be bothered.
Dogs are wonderful as well. Not only do they have their own personalities, but are very loyal to their owners. Of course, cats can be loyal also.
I love all pets, and I have even stayed with some rough ones. I have learned some lessons the hard way, and I have a high respect for all pets and for their owners. I follow instructions well and very carefully! Pets bring me much joy, and I love just being with them as well as taking care of them! Sometimes I think it is them taking care of me!
