I love teaching people to love music!
After hearing (and experiencing) horror stories of angry/pushy teachers and psychological damage, loss of love for playing and listening to music, physical injuries and other nightmares, I decided to structure my lessons differently.
Gone are the days of paying top dollar for a babysitter who won’t even really teach you how to read the notes, much less play music you love, or enjoy yourself during the process of learning.
Music is a language. When we are young children we learn to speak through immitation and improvisation. Only then when we have some communication skills do we learn to equate and associate sound and symbol.
Improvisation, composition, songwriting, and other musical activities are completely forgotten in other teachers’ “methods”. Reading and playing are the one and only things you will learn — And you’re lucky if you actually learn to read & play with fluency.
My lessons are structured more similarly to the GREATEST musicians in history from all over the globe: They include listening assignments, theory, history, appreciation, improvisation, composition, songwriting (lyrics) & creativity.
We can also discuss music business, artist development & career, amateur career paths, sound healing, and other topics during lessons.
Lessons also include creating WISH LISTS of your favorite songs that you would like to learn, so that you don’t spend years playing material you don’t even like!!
