I'm Isabel and I am a nationally-certified piano teacher accredited by Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) founded in 1876. My piano teaching studio is based in Westfield in western Massachusetts, and I am happy to offer online lessons to beginner-intermediate students of all ages. Last year, I celebrated my 10th anniversary of music teaching, and I remain passionate in my mission to foster the artistic development of my piano students.
Educationally, I earned my undergraduate B.A. degree from the College of Arts and Sciences at Cornell University in New York, and I focused on music studies at Mannes School of Music and Hunter College, as a second degree music major at the latter college. My personal piano teachers have included celebrated concert pianist, Xiayin Wang, and my own performance career spans over fifteen years and counting. I am also a certified cantor and excited to work with students who wish to learn to sing and accompany themselves at the piano.
Moreover, I am glad to share that I have experience working with a wide range of students, including students with special needs, and so welcome inquiries from parents with children with needs such as high-functioning autism.
An everyday piano lesson with me incorporates educational games and activities, improvisational exercises, music theory studies, and, of course, plenty of fun and stimulating music to take home and practice! I have a repertoire-rich approach to teaching and enjoy nurturing singing and composing abilities in my students as they grow at the piano.
