We train in the martial art of aikido in Forest Grove and Portland.
Our training promotes much in addition to self defense skills.
Centering and integration of body movement helps us move efficiently and with more power [rather than strength]. Connecting with your partner and yourself promotes openness and liveliness in how we respond to others and our surroundings. The effort of moving another person through space and getting up from the ground several dozen times an hour conditions a healthier body.
We carry these benefits from the dojo into our daily life.
Training is it's own joy and quite habit forming:-).
As an instructor I really enjoy getting to witness people having "Ah Ha" moments as they struggle with and then overcome barriers with their coordination, within themselves and with the power of another's attacks.
