Hi, my name is Adam, I'm a Self-Defense Instructor (Krav Maga System) that has taught group classes, private lessons and corporate workshops for over 10 years. I thrive in helping you become mentally and physically confident by teaching you how to protect yourself against various modern day threats/attacks by training you how to respond in a way that is practical and natural to the human mind and body.
We have natural responses that react to various threats that a lot of times hinders people from fully defending themselves - in your training you will begin to build new neural pathways, developing muscle memory, connecting the mind and body to then respond in a successful manner. Through different training drills, you will begin to learn to defend under pressure and rely on muscle memory to take care of the initial threat and get you to a place of safety.
Due to the nature of unforeseen confrontations in an unpredictable world, one does not have the time to have their hands wrapped and gloves put on before they engage in an unwanted threat/attack. Nor are there rules and referees to stop a physical altercation if things get bad. You will learn how to properly throw and defend against various strikes, knowing how to strike with your fist in the proper position with no gloves or when to use a palm heel strike, among other tools. As you progress, you will also learn how to protect yourself against various threats whether armed(i.e. knives, sticks, guns, etc.) or unarmed(i.e. punches, kicks, grabs, chokes, etc.). Also, even more importantly, teaching you situational awareness and psychological warfare to get you out of certain situations.
