PIANO INSTRUCTION

• I have students of all ages from young children ages five up to adults in their 60s and 70s! I am a certified music teacher in the state of Missouri and taught music teachers at Fontbonne university for 30 years.I love to teach and watch the progress of each student as they develop. If you have any questions please contact me via text or Thumbtack. I look forward to possibly speaking with you!

I am a certified public music teacher and taught Music at Fontbonne University for 30 years. I have a master’s degree in music education. I live in Hazelwood near 270 and Lindbergh; and teach at my home. The lessons include exercises in technique, artistry, piano music theory, and performance literature. Students of this age will need adult supervision of their practice sessions until they demonstrate the ability to work independently. My goal is to give the students a musical experiences that will expose them to the piano as well as experiencing the joy of music. I love to see students' success as they grow in their skills!

A special note to parents; The same content is taught to all the students. Obviously it will need to be simplified for the younger students.

It is important to know that this process takes time which is dependent upon the student and how quickly they assimilate information. I find that students learn more thoroughly when allowed time to internalize the information. I have been teaching for over 50 years, people with a very wide variety of ages and abilities. One of my goals as a teacher is to help the student appreciate and love music. If lessons turn into a negative activity that is never going to happen. One of my strengths is being an encourager to all my students.

VOICE AND SINGING INSTRUCTION

The next step after contacting me directly would be scheduling a lesson where I would evaluate your singing range and we would discuss an overview of what to expect to learn in voice lessons. Below I have included an overview of the subjects we would cover. Most importantly, it is tailored to what you would like to do with your voice. Some people just like to sing for themselves which is fine! Others may be interested in auditioning for musicals or advertising. My goal is to help you sound very best that you can sound and to enjoy singing well!

Specific skills in posture, breathing, resonance , Voice registers, articulation, vocal hygiene, coordination, and interpretation. I do have a handout that outlines our goals in learning healthy singing technique. I have a Masters and postgraduate work in vocal pedagogy, or how to teach singing. I also cover topics such as interpretation, memorizing music, and practice techniques. I teach basic good vocal technique, then we work on exploring the specific music singing style that the student is interested in, jazz, pop, music theater, or classical. We then work on how to apply those stylistic differences to good singing technique. I also teach microphone technique and recommend recording the lessons as well as providing accompaniment tracks of the vocal exercises for the student to practice with. Thank you very much for your interest! I live in St. Louis, Missouri.

I charge $65 for an hour lesson, $55 for a 45 minute lesson, and $45 for a 30 minute lesson. I accept cash, check, Venmo, cash ap, PayPal, Zelle, and Apple Wallet for payment. Most students pay weekly, however, a few choose to pay monthly at the beginning of the month. Whatever fits your situation the best is fine with me. If, after a few lessons you choose not to take lessons, there is absolutely no obligation to continue.
