I’ve lived a couple different lives: music industry power broker, fiction writer, elite tennis player. In each career, I noticed something strange - authors with the best prose often go unpublished, artists with the most beautiful music often go unheard, and tennis players with the best strokes often go out early in big tournaments. People can’t seem to get out of their own way.
