I started tutoring physics in 2005 while attending UCLA, which spread into math tutoring. In 2011, I picked up a part-time job scoring tests at The Princeton Review, and on my second day they learned my SAT scores were in the 97th percentile, and I didn't do any sort of prep! Three months later I had completed my certification to teach SAT classes, and I loved it!
Since then, I have picked up Princeton Review certifications in SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT, LSAT, MCAT, and ISEE preparation. I also certified to tutor at Kyo Standard in San Diego. I have taught and tutored from San Diego to Seattle, and online students all over the world.
My focus is to blend content and strategy, balanced with efficient prep. Today's high-achieving student is busy, and doesn't have time to do 10 hours of test prep each week for 2 months...unless maybe it's summer break. Most big-box prep companies overemphasize their strategies with a fairly one-size-fits-all approach, while many local tutors only know to teach content. Give your student the best of both worlds with an experienced tutor who has written course materials for the big guys while but wouldn't be limited by their pedagogy.
Do note: I do still work for The Princeton Review, so you can hire me through them for a higher cost (and some limits on what I am allowed to teach).
