Hello! My name is Claire and I've been teaching private violin, fiddle and viola lessons for 12 years. I have been teaching guitar for the past 4 years. I am currently offering lessons at the Vestal Museum. I have 16 students in my studio currently. I offer in-person or on-line lessons.
I teach ages 7 and up at my studio in Vestal, NY. Currently my students range in age from 7 to 76.
I teach classical violin and viola using the Suzuki books and a few other books as well. My classical students attend BCMEA, NYSSMA and many are in Binghamton Youth Symphony. We learn proper technique, music theory and musicianship.
In my fiddle lessons, I teach old-time and bluegrass fiddle tunes and improvisation. We learn a little bit of theory and a lot of musicianship. Each lesson is catered to the student, their age and their learning style.
Folks interested in learning acoustic guitar can expect to learn how to read tabs and pick as well as chords and various styles of strumming. We also go over the theory behind chord structures/progressions in these lessons. My background is in folk music.
I have been playing for 28 years and am classically trained. I took private lessons for years and eventually attended SUNY Fredonia and pursued a degree in Violin Performance as well as Sound Engineering. I perform for a living and love teaching and playing.
