I founded EDITSWORK during the early part of the lockdown in 2020, after having spent several decades running arts organizations, teaching creative writing (in all kinds of environments from kindergarten classrooms to universities to private workshops to San Quentin prison), as well as writing my own books. The most recent title under my own name, Total Recall (Krupskaya, 2019), won the California Book Award Gold Medal for Poetry.
It is my most fervent belief that the greatest gift we give ourselves and the world is a true accounting of our lives. As an editor and ghostwriter, I'm most interested in helping you tell your story in *your* most authentic voice, because I know there is extraordinary value in the telling. Writing is healing, not only for ourselves but for each other.
I work collaboratively and honestly, providing necessary critique and resources to help you generate the work that allows you to reveal that truth with clarity and music. I ask questions to help you develop your authorial intent, rather than offer cookie-cutter solutions, as I don't think there's only one way to write a book. We can create the way together.
As an editor, I've helped authors writing in a variety of genres: poetry, non-fiction, creative non-fiction, and fiction. As a ghostwriter, I've written memoirs and short story collections, but am looking forward to hearing what you're working on!
