I have been editing documents, both fiction and non-fiction, since 2001, including scientific papers, essays, and novels. I provide story coaching and developmental editing as well as proofreading and copy editing services. My primary focus is fiction for children, middle grade, and young adults in any genre. I am also interested in mysteries and romances for adult audiences.
My editing process consists of three stages. Upon receiving your manuscript, I will beta read the entire document, providing you with an evaluation that discusses character and plot development, pointing out areas where I think more or less information needs to be provided.
If I feel major structural changes are necessary, I may return the manuscript before I move on to the next stage. After the large edits, I focus on the line edits that make a story flow smoothly. Among other features, I focus on reducing dialogue tags and repetition while not losing the author's voice.
After you make these small-scale edits, I will proofread your manuscript multiple times, checking for typos, such as spelling and punctuation errors. Each package includes multiple proofreading passes, detailed in your contract.
Upon receipt of your signed contract and a small deposit ($50-100, depending on manuscript size), you will receive a link where you can monitor my progress, including an estimated start and completion date.

With over twenty-five years of tutoring experience, I can work with you to help you polish your manuscript. This service includes comprehensive editing upon completion of the manuscript.
I charge $30 an hour for my services, not to exceed a maximum of $0.03 per word. Subsequent proofreading is provided at no charge as outlined in your contract.
