Decatur, Alabama Section 8 Voucher Waiting List

The Decatur Housing Authority (DHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is now closed. Applications were last accepted from August 26, 2024 at 12:00 am, until August 28, 2024 at 11:59 pm CT. Prior to that, the waiting list had not opened up since 2020.

To apply during the opening period, applicants completed the online application.

Based on the Decatur Housing Authority's Section 8 Administrative Plan, preferences for the program are:

• Project-Based Applicant
• Displaced person(s): Individuals or families displaced by government action or whose dwelling has been extensively damaged or destroyed as a result of a disaster declared or otherwise formally recognized pursuant to Federal disaster relief laws.
• Residents in the Decatur Housing Authority Public Housing Program who are required to move and who cannot be placed in another public housing unit.
• Public Housing residents required to move due to modernization, demolition and/or disposition.

It is not known how applicants will be placed on the waiting list.
