Norfolk, Virginia Non-Elderly Disabled Section 8 Voucher Waiting List

The Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority (NRHA) Non-Elderly Disabled Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently closed. Applications were last accepted for one day only; on February 2, 2021. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

Please note: According to the NRHA, this waiting list is "for non-senior individuals with disabilities. Eligible applicants must also be able to document that they are transitioning out of an institutional or other separated setting, are at serious risk of institutionalism and are homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless."

To apply during the opening period: applicants were required to complete the online application.

This waiting list had the following preferences:

• Resident of Norfolk - 20 points (includes families employed in Norfolk)
• Working Families - 10 points (includes head of household or spouse or sole member is aged 62 or older or is a person with disabilities (Notice PIH 2011-33) or where the head of the household is the primary caregiver for a disabled household member. Minimum works hours 15 per week for non-elderly and non-disabled.)
• Veterans - 5 points (includes persons who were honorably discharged or under other than dishonorable conditions.)

It is not known how applicants were placed on the waiting list.
